Gsnap is a free open source VST pitch correction plug-in (Autotune program) that can be downloaded at http://www.gvst.co.uk/gsnap.htm . To install it in audacity do the following. Download the Grymmjack skin version of Gsnap. Keep Audacity open all throughout the next few steps. Install Gsnap in the Plugins folder which should be in the audacity installation folder (Windows user: this folder should be under program files). Close and restart Audacity, GVST: Gsnap should be under effects.
Step 3: Settings for Autotune
To achieve the T pain effect (a robotic voice) enter the following settings in Gsnap

Min Freq: 40 Hz
Max Freq: 2,000Hz
Gate: -80 db
Speed: 1
Thresh: 100 cents

Now here's the important part: the scale
Autotune fixes bad pitches so to find the best effect what you need to do is mess with the notes and scale. If find that for me G# pentatonic scale has the best effect but, everybody sings differently.
Press 'Save' up at the top and save it under whatever name you choose
Press 'Ok' (you need to record audio before you start autotuning)
